Tron -- which was a pioneering work in using computer graphics extensively in mainstream cinema (and with
Wendy Carlos' musical score too) -- is these days considered a proto-
cyberpunk classic.

Were you there when we showed TRON in a night show at the film club in Tampere? It's an awkward film and the plot drags heavily, but some consider it a breakthrough because it all happens inside the computer.
ReplyDeleteI saw it when they showed it in theatres in 1982. Haven't ever since. It was about the same era as another Disney big-budget sci-fi film, "Black Hole".
