The release of Kompleksi's debut album Sister Longlegs Dances In The Disco (VERDU-24, Verdura Records) seems finally getting nearer... The estimated time of arrival is now early October 2008. A vinyl record with a limited edition of 500 copies.
Also, the rehearsals for Kompleksi's debut live gig are underway with new member Perttu Piirto (a.k.a. Ever Had a.k.a. Melkoinen). If everything goes as it should, this will take place at Lal Lal Lal Festival, Friday 3 October 2008. Venue: Kantis, Ruoholahdenkatu 4, Helsinki.
(Lal Lal Lal was the label which released Kompleksi's first 7" (I Ain't No) Lovechild/Moscow 1980 back in 2005.) Now, just pray...
As usual, stay tuned for more.
Will be great to be a proud owner of the Kompleksi vinyl album, and looking forward to seeing the gig! I'm lucky I'll be in Finland then!
ReplyDelete(And hopefully there'll be some vinyl left!)
Hey, that's great, congrats, guys!
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot! But blaah, now the record label informs us there's something wrong with the test pressing they just received from Germany, which obviously bumps in some tracks. Apparently, some stereo effects there don't translate too well in the pressing process (the album is heavy with all sorts of stereo effects, different plug-ins used, double & triple & quadruple vocals tracks, phasing, "difficult" frequencies, etc.), so it seems we have to create yet another master for the pressing plant. Which means there might be a delay in the scheduled release date. Well, the journey of Kompleksi has been a bumpy road all the way, sigh.
ReplyDeleteAnd one thing causing troubles, of course, is that the album is nearly 50 minutes long (even after some tracks were edited shorter), meaning the grooves have to be cut pretty tight there.
ReplyDeleteDarn!
