Space: 1999 - Italian Soundtrack by Ennio Morricone

Ennio Morricone: 'Spazio 1999'

Now this is truly strange. It was Ennio Morricone himself, the famous film composer best known for his immortal themes for Sergio Leone's spaghetti westerns, who created this bizarre score for Spazio: 1999, the Italian version of Gerry Anderson's 70s sci-fi TV series Space: 1999.

I was just trying to hunt down a decent rip of the Barry Grey soundtrack to the original English version of 'Space 1999' (which I highly recommend to anyone into pounding funk-drenched theme music) when I came across your post..Ennio Morricone & Space 1999!?!? I did a double take and when I heard it, my gods it sounded like something JP Massiera would have created, absolutely deranged yet deliriously delicious...though it does not even begin to answer the question as to why the Italians demanded a different theme song in the first place!

A great post!
