
The 1982 film Tron -- which was a pioneering work in using computer graphics extensively in mainstream cinema (and with Wendy Carlos' musical score too) -- is these days considered a proto-cyberpunk classic. Here is a mash-up video of Tron and Depeche Mode's 'Suffer Well'.

Were you there when we showed TRON in a night show at the film club in Tampere? It's an awkward film and the plot drags heavily, but some consider it a breakthrough because it all happens inside the computer.
I saw it when they showed it in theatres in 1982. Haven't ever since. It was about the same era as another Disney big-budget sci-fi film, "Black Hole".
